Take-away in Waitrose Car Park - Barnardos

Where are the best places to have a meal or drink locally?

Take-away in Waitrose Car Park - Barnardos

Postby LasagneMan » Wed Oct 29, 2014 10:06 am

Can anyone say what is happening with the take-away in Waitrose car park?
I've been a couple of times over the past couple of months and found it closed.
Thanks
Clive

You must be the only person that ever used it!!
Never saw any customers anywhere near the place , I was put off when I saw a food delivery placed out in the open when the place was shut
Left in full sunlight by a big green rat poison box.

I have not been in there for years, they made the big fuss and had the car parking changed, be nice if they allowed parking during the day :) If they have closed wonder what will happen to the building.

I'm not the only one who used it, there was always at least one other customer when I went in.

I preferred going there, despite knowing all the risks about take aways, after being served rubbish food from the other Chinese take away on Bedford Street. And I prefer my chicken not to be in fat balls :-)

Certainly, if they're not using the parking, then for goodness sakes, let's get the parking for everyone else. I wonder what the agreements were when the car park was laid out. The traffic flow routing certainly needs to be rethought as right now it's better described as a jam.

It's being refurbed, with windows in some kind of lime green colour. Not dissimilar to Waitrose's corporate colours but could just be a coincidence.

I do so hope that it is NOT another Charity Shop. I really think that this small Town of ours have enough of these emporiums.
I know that they do good work and help a lot of people, but there surely comes a time when one has to say that "enough is enough". :?

Whilst Charity shops are a good thing, there is such a thing as 'too much of a good thing'!

I asked someone in there today.
It will be a Banardos charity shop. They already have the stock on the shelves.
I imagine that the parking spaces go with the lease. But we'll see!

The only reason there are so many Charity Shops is because they do not have to pay the standard business rates.
Perhaps this should be addressed by somebody, somewhere. If there was a level "playing field", there would probably have been a small
specialist shop there.
The parking is certainly going to cause a problem. Will Waitrose, or for that matter the Charity Shop, know who is parking where to
enter which shop?? Especially at the Weekends, which seem to be busiest time for Waitrose.
However, you cannot fault Barnardos (if that is who it is) for getting the prime position for a Charity Shop in Town.

I don't know much about business rates, but small businesses do get a lot of relief now so that they can compete more fairly with charities, http://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/l ... fault.aspx

if you only have one property you can get 100% relief on a small property, not sure how big the chinese is
