Having had a look at the Francis Frith site, presumably it is to sell prints? And to attract comment about Ampthill.
Reading one or two of the "memories" - they do not seem to be correct: i.e. Cheeseman's the Chemist, never was or has been
the shop next to the Bedfordshire Times shop/office. So Mrs Blakelock's memory is a little on the faulty side.
Whilst the picture of Ampthill Church (taken 1955) is very nice, I doubt very much that Queen Katherine of Aragon ever worshipped there as stated.
It would be nice to know if there is anything that could establish that she actaully did so.
She was, after all, confined to the Castle, and whilst here was given the news that Cranmer's Court had ended her marriage to Henry VIII, which she
refused to accept. She was then taken to Kimbolton Castle where she died.
It is said that whilst here at Ampthill she suffered from a septic foot and other ailments. Therefore perhaps, to worship at the Church, may have been
a step too far? :AA
