The Promise - Channel 4

Postby Sveti » Tue Mar 01, 2011 9:24 pm

Watched the final of this 4 part drama on Sunday night. Thought it was one of the best things I've seen on TV for a very, very long time. They are bringing it out on DVD.

Superbly directed and acted. Brave of someone to try and tell the extremely complicated and troubled history of Palestine/Israel, however it seems to have had great reviews.

Many thanks Sveti,

I missed this so have just got the DVD. Looking forward to watching it.

My Dad was there during those troubled times. He hated it.
Much worse than his experiences in Dunkirk, Burma, The Canal Zone,
Aden, Cyprus, and even Tidworth with the HLI nearby.

It's still available, for free, on the excellent 4OD.

Be interested what you think of it Memory Lane, as I haven't spoken to one person who watched it! Really strange, as it was advertised as the best thing on TV in many newspapers and magazines. Might not have been 100% factually correct in parts, but it was a TV drama after all.

I have a real interest in the subject as have been to Israel quite a bit, and have studied the conflict out there, but thought more people would have wanted to watch it. Anyway - enjoy.

Forgive my ignorance sizzla, but what's 4OD? Something like BBC iPlayer?

Many, many thanks Sizzla. I could have saved £11.99. Good know how for the future.
