Good view of the wind turbine at Millennium Country Park from Ampthill Park! Doesn't seem to working yet though.

I think it was turning slowly today -- will check again tomorrow as I go past it on way to work -- amazing how it makes the chimneys look small!!

Can see it quite plainly from the road into Bedford from Ampthill. As it is only the one, it gives the impression of being alien in the landscape.
Somehow, the chimneys of the Brickworks never quite gave that feeling. :AA

I think the blades can be 'feathered' to stop them rotating - we have had some pretty strong winds recently, so it should have been whirring round like a good 'un.

The fact that it is up does not mean that it is yet connected up to the grid with whatever control gear is required.

(They are currently erecting a windfarm near to M1 junction 15 near Northampton - the turbines there are the same - they look up and finished but are only rotating very slowly at the moment, even in fairly strong winds)

I see from the T&C, that the one wind turbine, might turn into 6.
Might be a good idea if they could supply us all locally with cheap electricity - but of course that is never going to happen.
So on the basis that we are just going to have to look at them I probably feel that that is 5 too many. :AA
