road works

Postby dark angel » Sun Jul 12, 2015 4:34 pm

are people aware of the road works that start the last week of july, starting with the full closure of church street 8am till 6pm, traffic lights down Dunstable street for about four weeks and to top it off the full closure of church street, the double r/b and Woburn street the last week of august again 8am till 6pm. they are informing the shops that they will not have access to their carparks and to park else where. also no access will be given to anyone between those stated times. they are having a laugh. love to know what they are planning on doing and what idiot agreed to this. closing the main route through the town, where are the buses going to go, how are people expected to get to the shops walk to the end of church street then down the back down the other side then retun the same way with all my shopping.

I did see a sign somewhere, but have not been out and about since returning from holiday.

Why are they closing, how long for? You think they could have done it when closed it last time.

Going to be interesting!

I think that letters are being sent out to those affected explaining timings etc for access. There should be notifications on the Town Council website

I didn't find the site really helpful - it said road surfacing from July through to Sept, that can't be right can it?

As I understand it the works are scheduled for 6 weeks--they will do the roads a section at a time

I asked the TC about this today as as market traders I thought we should have been informed. Nothing she wasn't able to give any info.

Will the entrance to the car park by NatWest be closed at the same time as the double roundabouts? Someone has given me a copy of this letter.

Of course they have information. There was a public announcement letter. Talk to a Councillor.

Was there?? Where?? Didn't see anything in the local paper. And anyway it wouldn't give times and dates of closures, just notice that it
was going to be done.
I suppose Lea Road and Church Avenue are going to become the usual "rat run"!! Ah! Me!!

I see it has started today, but nothing really to show for it.

No mention of the roadworks in the Around the Pump which I thought a bit od, as it is something that is effecting the whole town.

Faeries and Frogs are closed for the last week in August.

Wonder if the footpaths will be accessible, as they are really narrow.

In a small Town like tbis, with such a busy traffic system, why oh why can't they do the work at night?
Work from 8pm to 6 a.m. get the work done and have finished with it.
Instead, they p.... about, doing a bit here and there - bung up the whole of the traffic system at the busiest
times. I really don't know why we stand for it. And this is going to go on for weeks yet!!!!
Oh, to live in England now that Summer is here, and the Road Workers are on the job (or not) Grrhhhhh.....

I for one don't want them working at night - people, especially those with children like to sleep!
