Flitwick Road: Closure?

Postby Jurassic Pork » Sat Oct 08, 2016 9:58 pm

There are some signs up in Flitwick Road about a road closure. If I read it right, it'll be for something like three weeks. Surely some mistake?

I couldn't decide if it meant from 8pm on 21st (?) until 8pm on 31st or thereabouts, or just night closures.

Guess it is planned to be done over half term and will be closed all that time, must be digging it up for the services for the new houses.

Long time worth avoiding.

Saw them closing the road last night -- I guess being Half Term the impact will not be so great but still will be inconvenient for some

Inconvenient for the majority, as most of us do not stop driving during half term.

I saw a few people ignoring the sign thinking it must be open :(

Tavistock and the school are marooned from the rest of the town.

I went to the school on Saturday afternoon - up Woburn Street and down the bypass - it wasn't really a problem.

However, I saw several drivers ignore the signs at the roundabout near the 101 and the one directly in front of me did a U-turn at the school entrance when he saw the barriers across the road.

Highways in North Norfolk have done exactly the same --changed the road closure dates to this week as it is half term -------however although there is no school traffic going through, there is plenty of 4x4's as the second home owners and half term holiday makers have poured in-------------------

Speaking solely for myself, I didn't find it too much of a bother yesterday, although Oliver Street and Abbey Lane were a bit CONGESTED.

I went to take a look at the works. They have actually removed a large section of the road. Presumably they'll replace it with a roundabout?

More traffic coming through the centre of the town, I guess some head for the 507 in the morning.

Wasn't a major problem for me either.

It doesn't look as though there will be a roundabout there just a raised area of road made from block paving,

Went down this evening -- block paving and an entrance to the estate have been put in and some pipe work perhaps?
