A507 closed

The road closure is causing chaos, the diversion sends you on the country roads at the Eversholt way i think, but most people are going via Doolittle Mill and Fordfield Road.

I note that they have also got traffic lights/roadworks helpfully on the road into flitwick which is adding big time to the chaos

I agree that it is chaos, & I am fortunate enough to be able to re-route, & totally avoid this area, but nobody can argue that the work desperately needed doing.

This section was like a slalom in trying to avoid all the potholes & cracks. There were so many, that just doing localised repairs was never going to be enough.

I have heard it is not road resurfacing it is deep groundworks. They had already filled in a lot of the potholes on that stretch.

While they're at it, would be nice to put a roundabout at the Woburn Street entrance to Ampthill. That junction is a deathtrap.

They had filled in some of the potholes - but they were very crudely done, and I hope that they were just temporary repairs.

Hopefully, they will be resurfacing the whole stretch.

I know that there is a general shortage of funds, but mostly they just do repairs to cure the immediate problem, rather than cure the issue for the long term. However, for some locations, they realise it is cheaper to solve it long term.

I hope that is what they are doing now.

If you want to know more about what they're actually doing up there, check this out: http://stabilisedpavements.co.uk/

They say the resulting road will be good for 20 years.
